EasyEclipse
3rd June 2006
Back in November of 2004 I posted a rant about how difficult it was to download and install the Eclipse IDE from the official site. I’m delighted to hear that my rant was partially responsible for the creation of the EasyEclipse project, which not only provides easily installable packages for setting up a Java development environment but also covers LAMP development as well.
Meanwhile, eclipse.org has made big improvements too. A visit to www.eclipse.org/downloads gives me a nice big “Download now: Eclipse SDK 3.1.2, Mac OS X (98 MB)” link, with an alternative link to the torrents.
I’m living in TextMate at the moment and loving every minute of it, but I’ll certainly be trying out one of the EasyEclipse distributions next time I need to work with Java.
